IMMERSED

“Not even the biggest artist has an idea that a block of marble in rough doesn’t already contain“ Michelangelo Bounarroti. In this project of urban intervention, commemorative busts in honour of historical personalities are affected with fragments of the human figure designed on a scale and style that corresponds. These fittings made of foam and resin are attached to the base or pedestal that originally was made to sublime the image itself. In Immersed the character arises on the block that supports him, as if at the time he was trapped in it. This series of temporal interventions took place between 2004 and 2008 in Bogotá and Medellin, Colombia. This project was documented by photographs taken during each intervention.
